Abstract:A novel method for optimally integrating the flow sheet of an azeotropic distillation system was proposed based on the logical relationship of Petri Nets structure. Firstly, according to the concepts of Petri Nets, the unit operation topology modules were established, i.e., the modules of distillation, decantation and mixing modules; Then the superstructure of the azeotropic distillation system which embed all the feasible flow sheets was built up to generate Petri Nets correlation matrix, and thereby the corresponding state equation was constructed. An objective function was set up with the consideration of minimizing the number of operation units, then optimal feasible flow sheets of azeotrope separation were derived by solving 0-1 integer linear programming. Finally, by comparing the results in case study with the ones in literatures, the advantage of proposed method were illustrated as follows: the superstructure is complete, the mathematic model is precise, and the solving algorithm is efficient.
