Abstract:Propylene epoxidation in nonprotic solvent catalyzed by TS-1 was studied. The results show that the activity increases with the increase of polarity of nonprotic solvent. When acetone is used as solvent, the decrease of pH of the medium nearly has no effect on the activity and the hydrogen peroxide utilization; but when the pH increases, both of them decrease. The temperature has a great effect on the activity. Hydrogen peroxide conversion increases with the increase of temperature, and the reaction retains a high propylene oxide selectivity, but the hydrogen peroxide utilization decreases dramatically. When the volume fraction of acetone in the co-solvent of methanol and acetone is no more than 50%, the activity is lower slightly than that of the reaction with methanol as solvent, but the selectivity of propylene oxide increases greatly.
