Abstract:A series of novel ternary poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymers with Cardo groups in the main chain were prepared via nucleophilic substitution polycondensation reaction of phenolphthalein, bisphenol A and bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone in the presence of alkaline. The structure and thermal stability of the ternary poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymer were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), thermogravimetry (TG) analysis, et al. The results show that the ternary poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymer with Cardo groups is amorphous and its glass transition temperature is 171-258��. The temperature of mass loss of 5% in nitrogen exceeds 395��. The ternary poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymer has good solubility in common organic solvents and strong polar aprotic solvents, and the relative molecular mass and its distribution are (1.0-2.1)��104 and 2.23-3.49, respectively.
