Abstract:Poly(phthalazinone ether sulfone ketone) (PPESK) containing thephthalazinone moiety copolymer can be hydroxylated with NaBH4 in DMAc. The reductive PPESK(PPESK—OH) is fully characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR.The properties of PPESK—OH are shown with the measuring inherent viscosity, contact angle (water), glass transition temperature (Tg) and solubility in different solvents. The results indicate that the presence of the hydroxyl group significantly enhances the PPESK—OH film wettability; and its Tg becomes higher than PP ESK′s, which gives it good thermal stability. Nevertheless, the solubility of PPESK—OH has also been changed. It can be soluble in DMAc, NMP, DMF and m-cresol, not soluble in chloroform, NB, TCE solvent.
