Abstract: An efficient method for the synthesis of N'-alkyl-N,N-dimethylacetamidine derivatives under mild conditions and in excellent yields involved reacting primary alkylannines with N,N-dimethylacetamide in the presence of LiCl as a catalyst and methanol as the acetalising reagent.
