Abstract:Prismatic cellular metals have one easy flow direction and have attracted significant interest for heat sink application including compact electronic cooling devices and ultra-light actively cooled aerospace structures. Several authors have reported heat transfer efficiency of prismatic materials. However, they focus on determining thermal properties of a set of standard cellular topologies or graded cellular material of one standard cellular material. In this work, the fast numerical algorithm is presented for evaluating the thermal performance of prismatic cellular materials with non-standard cellular topologies which include the mixed-cells topologies, graded-cell topologies and super-cell topologies. It's about 3-4 order of magnitudes improvement in computational velocity of this method compared with the finite volume method. The validity and applicability of method is proved by some examples.
