Abstract:In this letter, we present a dual-channel surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor, in which one channel is prepared with bilayers of silver and thin indium tin oxide (ITO) layer, and the other is coated with gold film. ITO layer with high refractive index (RI) is used to adjust the resonant wavelength of thin silver layer to the near infrared region of spectrum, which makes it possible to generate two resonant dips as dual channel in the designed structure. High RI sensitivity for two channels is shown in theory and experiment. Moreover, we used the sensor prototype for analyte biosensing of concanavalin A, which is specifically identified by ribonuclease B. The reference channel with double layers of silver and ITO is applied to correct non-specific adsorption and the bulk RI in the biochemical measurements, which increases the measurement accuracy and reliability. This compact, cost-effective dual-channel SPR biosensor can be developed as high sensitive point-of-care SPR technology with further investigations.
