Abstract:Drawing document management is the bottleneck for small and medium enterprises to apply collaborative design technology.To solve the problem,a collaborative design oriented engineering drawing document management system is achieved by utilizing object-oriented technologies.Drawing documents are described as objects.Adopt two strategies to manage the attributes of the drawing document objects: use relational database to store the basic attributes;use file system to store drawing files generated by CAD,and store the description record and the pointer that denote the location of the drawing files in metadata database,then the needed drawing document files can be found through the metadata.The application results of the designed drawing document management system showed that the system can meet the requirements of collaborative design,and is convenient and low-cost to implement.
