Abstract:With reference to performance model of parallel variable speed pumps, an optimal allocation scheme, which can make online decision on optimal pump operation number according to continuous monitoring of total water flow and pump head, was presented based on theoretical derivation using extreme value analysis method. Simulation work on variable water system with variable differential pressure setpoint control strategy was studied, and results showed that the online optimal allocation scheme could achieve 18.8% and 4.1% pump power saving compared with single pump operation scheme and twin pump operation scheme, respectively.
