Abstract:The GDS unsaturated soil triaxial apparatus is employed to conduct compression tests under different matric conditions. Test data show that coefficient of compression and yield suction of the sample are closely dependent on matric suction while rebound coefficient is related somehow with matric suction. On the basis of the concept of specific water volume, it is known that coefficient of water-phase volume change decreases progressively with increase of matric suction. With increase of net mean stress, void ratio and water content of the sample gradually decrease while degree of saturation of the sample increases.
