Abstract: The hollow silica spheres with the shell of worm-like mesoporous structure were synthesized via emulsion method by using anionic surfactant C14-L-Ala as the template. The samples synthesized at different static kept time and pH value were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, TEM and N2 adsorption. It was revealed that the hollow silica spheres were formed and the surface became smooth with the increase of the static kept time (0-3 h). And the hollow spheres changed to rod-like structure with the pH decreased (pH 10.8-7.3). The formation of TEOS emulsion droplet and the control of hydrolysis condensation speed were the key points of synthesizing mesoporous hollow spheres. The synthesis mechanism of MSHS-C14-A was discussed preliminarily.
