Profile

Dr. Yi Wei, Associate Professor at the School of Physics, Dalian University of Technology, obtained her Ph.D. in Physics and Chemistry from École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, France. She has worked at the Quantum Photonics and Molecular Physics Laboratory (LPQM) at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, the Laboratory of Supramolecular and Macromolecular Photophysics and Photochemistry (PPSM), the National Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Nano-Optoelectronic Integration and Advanced Equipment.

Her research focuses on the development of innovative optoelectronic materials and high-stability solar cells. She leads a research group that has made groundbreaking progress in commercially viable solar cells, particularly in enhancing solar cell stability and designing novel structures. Dr. Wei has published numerous papers in high-impact international journals, such as Advanced Energy Materials (IF: 29.368), Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters (IF: 7.643), and Solar RRL (IF: 8.558), and holds several granted patents.

Research Directions

1.     High-Stability Perovskite Solar Cells

l  Pioneered the discovery of reverse-gradient quantum well distributions in 2D Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites (2D-RP), enabling record-breaking stability (4,800 hrs in air ) with a certified PCE of 15.05% in 2019 (highest for 2D perovskite cells at the time).

l  Developed a universal quantum-confined charge transport model, guiding the design of perovskite films with simultaneously enhanced carrier mobility and moisture resistance.

2.     Industrial Silicon Solar Cells

l  Innovated interdigitated back-contact (IBC) crystalline silicon cells using non-lithography, low-temperature processes, achieving a cost reduction of ~40% versus conventional IBC manufacturing.

l  Realized 19.8%-efficient screen-printed n-type Si cells and 19.3%-efficient black Si cells (world-class efficiency) through advanced surface passivation and plasma-assisted texturing techniques.
