Abstract: The dynamic design becomes a key technique for the construction and operation of powerhouse structures in China, along with the fast development of large pumped-storage projects. In comparison with a general turbine, hydraulically-excited vibration is quite remarkable, as the working head and running speed of the pumped-storage turbines are much higher. This paper describes the model test results of turbine vibration for the Yixing Pumped-storage Project, and discusses the similarity law and the structures of pressure fluctuations in the spiral case and draft tube, and then, presents a three-dimensional FEM simulation of the dynamic responses under hydraulic excitation, including displacement, velocity, acceleration and stresses. Finally, a vibration evaluation is made according to the criteria of powerhouse structure vibration.
