Abstract: A near infrared dye was synthesized to form an inclusion complex with cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) in aqueous solution which disrupted the aggregation of the dye, leading to a 30-fold fluorescence increase. This inclusion complex exhibited ultrastable photostability with good mitochondria-staining capability.
