Abstract: Shenyang Boguan Bridge is the first half-through 6-span X skew arch bridge in China. To ensure the safety during its construction and service, a permanent structure health monitoring system is imported. In this paper, the schemes of placement of measuring points, as well as the function and composition of the monitoring system are introduced. To ensure the safety of steel-concrete connection position as construction activity progresses, the stress evolution of these positions were investigated through the monitoring system The monitoring exercise provides valuable data for the safety of bridge construction. It verifies the effectiveness and importance of monitoring during the construction phase for such a complex long-span arch bridge.
