Abstract: The mechanical properties of RC columns under multi-dimensional dynamic loadings are investigated in this paper. Some properties were concluded according to the experimental results, such as the initial stiffness, stiffness degradation, strength degradation, ductility, energy absorption, failure mode and damage of RC columns. Comparisons of experimental results between the static and dynamic loading tests indicated that the strength, stiffness, damage, failure mode, ductility and energy absorption are dependent on the loading rate. Based on the above analyzes, some significant conclusions are obtained for engineering practice. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
