    Modeling on water and chloride transport in cracked unsaturated concrete

    摘要:Water penetration and chloride ingress into concrete are the main cause for the degradation of reinforced concrete structures, especially when concretes are in an unsaturated state and exposed to the risk of cracking. The water absorption and cracks tends to accelerate the moving speed of aggressive agents within concrete. In the current paper, the model for predicting water penetration and chloride ingress through a single crack by capillary absorption is developed by treating it as a parallel-plate configuration. In terms of the mesoscopic structure of concrete, the mesoscale lattice network model is presented to examine the influence of mechanically-induced cracking on water penetration and chloride ingress into concrete. The above proposed models are coupled and validated on data from the literatures, showing good agreement with experimental results.
