Abstract:To explore the wave evolution problems when wave propagates with penetration in the complex terrain of shallow water,this paper simulates the evolution of wave on WW3 (WAVEWATCH- Ⅲ). Gaussian spectrum with small spectral width is selected.The evolution of the regular wave is simulated from deep to shallow water and analyzes the changes in the wave height when penetration occurs.Also,the mesh convergence and reverse propagation of wave are verified.Then by comparing the permeability coeffi-cient curves gained by WW3 with that of J.N.Newman's theoretical analysis method,it shows that the nu-merical simulation results of WW3 are in good agreement with theoretical results of J.N.Newman when (kh)1/2 ≥0.4.It can be concluded that the permeability coefficient curves obtained by WW3 is correct when wavelength setting satisfied the condition of deep water assumption in the WW3 .The simulates of wave e-volution provides important environmental parameters to the design of offshore structures.
