Abstract:Through measurement of the compressor cascade flow field by using the five-hole probe in a low speed wind tunnel, the effect of the different height and circular locations endwall fences on the total cascade loss and secondary velocity vectors was investigated. The results show that, the optimal circular location of fences which decreases the total cascade loss is 70 percent of pitch far from the suction surface of the blade, the optimal height of fences is 5 ram; the height of fences which decreases the total cascade loss is not unlimited. The endwall fences vortices became distinct with the increasing height of fences. The distri-bution of the cascade endwall loss can be changed by fences, so the flow in the corner of the suction surface/endwall is controlled and the aerodynamic performance of the cascade is im-proved.
