Abstract: The entire industry is diveded into two departments consisting of equipment manufacturing and non - equipment manufacturing, a two - sector model is applied to research on the impetus function and spillover effects of the development of equipment manufacturing industries on entire industry. The panel data constituted by time - series data from the year of 2000 to 2007 and cross - section data from 31 provinces in China has been taken in use for empirical testing, the results show that （ 1 ） There are enormous spillover effects on non - equipment manufacturing sector from the equipment manufacturing industry, and the spillover elasticity is 7. 996 percent; （2） The impetus function of equipment manufacturing industry on the entire industrial economies is obvious, and the contribution rate reaches at 9. 15 percent; （3） The average element marginal output ratio for equipment manufacturing industry is 10.07 percent higher than that for non - equipment manufacturing sectors.
