Abstract:Cost estimation is one of the most critical tasks for construction project management. The existing cost estimating method requires information from several sources,including material,labor,equipment, etc. Chinese national standard (GB50500-2013),i.e. Specification of quantity billing in construction projects,is adopted as knowledge source and a representation model of ontology-based building cost estimation is presented. In the proposed model related concepts are extracted and semantic relationships between the concepts are defined from knowledge source. In the construction process of the proposed representation model,the relationship between the ontology and IFC standard is built by analyzing existing IFC standard of building information modeling(BIM). A cost estimation information integration framework which includes concept model,work item ontology and construction condition is established. The proposed model addresses the problems of knowledge representation and multi-source information integration,and proposes a new solution which can achieve knowledge share and reuse in building cost estimation.
