Abstract:The use of castellated divertor structures in fusion devices may increase the amount of hydrogen isotope retention because of the presence of gaps between the tiles. To address this issue, a two dimensional Hydrogen Isotope Inventory Processes code (HIIPC2D) is developed. To represent the effect of the gap geometry on the incident plasma flux reasonably, a two dimensional kinetic edge plasma code is integrated into HIIPC2D. The simulation results indicate that the existence of gaps of divertor tiles does increase the HI retention in the short term, but in the long term its contribution to the total HI retention will be small.
